The Medical Biodefense Conference (MBDC) has a long tradition, featuring its 16th edition in 2018. Since 2009, the conference has been held every two years as an international English-language congress and has attracted an ever growing number of participants from more and more countries. In 2018, more than 500 participants from 58 nations attended the MBDC. The popularity of the conference can be attributed to the high standard of the scientific presentations, which attracts more and more top scientists from all over the world, and to the general set-up of the conference, which offers a comparatively low-priced conference package yet offers participants excellent scientific presentations. The Medical Biodefense Conference has therefore developed into a European top event in this field, serving as a biennial forum for scientific exchange between universities and authorities as well as governmental and military research institutions. International biodefence cooperation is underlined by the international composition of the conference's Scientific Board since 2013.
