Research and Teaching

The Institute's employees are involved in academic teaching at various universities and in the postgraduate training that forms part of the courses offered at the Bundeswehr Medical Academy. In its function as a federal governmental research institution, the Institute carries out applied research that focuses on subject areas relevant to medical biodefence. Every two years, the Institute organises the “Medical Biodefense Conference”, which has developed into a leading international forum for exchanging scientific expertise in this field. In 2016, 550 participants from 51 countries attended the conference.
